You may have followed the story of LifeCare Edinburgh and their fundraising efforts through the Aviva Community Fund, where they were awarded £25k!

Chief Executive of LifeCare, Su Millar, has sent on her thanks for everyone’s contributions in helping LifeCare achieve their goal:

“Although LifeCare Edinburgh provides a range of services for the frail elderly, people with dementia and relief care for carers, it diversifies its income to generate further monies for the charity too. Our community hall is in great demand in our area and helps bring in a modest, much needed income for our charity to help close funding gaps to carry out our vital care services. The hall floor is an essential component to making that happen and needs replacing. So, LifeCare Edinburgh was delighted when the GS Group, who understand our business so well, sponsored our application for a new sprung wooden floor to the Aviva Community Fund.

Our GS Group experts, Marian Player and Kate Taylor, kept us right with their honed skills and they made sure that all the small print was read. They told all their friends about it and we did too. We want to thank everyone who voted for the project, at GS Group, all in our community who voted, the Aviva Community Fund Panel and all at Aviva who made the Awards day on 8th March 2017 so very special for everyone who attended and for making so many dreams come true. A huge thanks to Marian Player who was brilliant on the awards day and was such a great support.

At the final count our hall floor project attracted almost 4,700 votes and a cheque for £25,000. We were one of only 6 winners from across the UK at that £25,000 level and the only one from Scotland. Thank you so much Aviva and thank you to GS Group too for believing enough in us to walk that road with us too.

Later this year, on 9th September, we look forward to having our celebratory ceilidh to close off LifeCare Edinburgh’s 75th year – it will be a real hooley and lots of fun. We invite you to come and join us and to give it a good test run. For we know that, by then, spring will have definitely sprung for our new wooden floor.”
