Driving during weather warnings…what you need to know

We have been contacted by several clients, concerned that using their vehicles during weather warnings – especially Amber and Red ones – will invalidate their insurance policies and lead to their insurer turning down claims if they occur during these periods.

We are happy to confirm there is no such exclusion written into UK comprehensive motor insurance policies. Any “bad weather” motor vehicle claims will be paid.

From a Health & Safety perspective, employers have a duty of care to their staff and this should be borne in mind when making decisions on the use of company vehicles.

Reasonable care and consideration should always be taken when driving in hazardous conditions.
