GS Group are delighted to announce we are sponsoring young Scottish athlete, Alastair Marshall, in his pursuit of representing Great Britain at the Euro U20 Champs in Estonia in July 2021.

Alastair, aged 18, is currently studying Sports Science at the University of Stirling whilst training and racing. He started running aged 8, but it was not until he got a bit older that he joined an athletics club and took running seriously. In 2015 he was 105th in Scotland at Cross Country for his age but in the space of 3 years, he became 5th in Scotland at Cross Country for his age in 2018.

Last year, Alastair was 2nd in Scotland at the Young Athletes Road Race, which meant selection for Scotland at U17 level. His range is 800m up to 10k, however his strongest looks to be 5k. To represent Great Britain at the Euro U20 Champs in Estonia in July 2021, he has to qualify with a time of 14:25.

Alastair is on track as just over a week ago, he ran 9 seconds under the qualifying time, running 14:16 at the Trafford Grand Prix. Last weekend Alistair also ran ran 8:16 for 3000m in Loughborough and obtained the qualifying mark for the Under 20 Euros as well.

He is competing at the following over the next few months:

• • 21/5 – 1 Mile, Stirling
  • 29/5 – 5000m, Manchester
  • 12/6 – 5000m European Trial in Watford
  • 26/6 – 3000m European Trial in Manchester
